Between 20 Dec 2010 and 9 March 2011, a Texas resident was given the option to do the Texas Appliance Mail-in Rebate program. The purpose was to encourage ENERGY STAR®appliance usage to be more energy efficient. With the program you could replace your appliances with ENERGY STAR® appliances to be more energy efficient.

Texans are still encouraged to be more energy efficient. With appliances like those of ENERGY STAR®, you can increase your energy efficiency, cutting down costs and helping do your part for the environment. Here are some additional simple tips.

*Switch to a Morso energy efficient stove, which is also made from 98% recycled material.

*You can save up to 20% on heating and cooling costs by insulating your home with ENERGY STAR® products.

*You should also use more energy-efficient light bulbs, Air Conditioners during the summer and Furnaces during the winter . Buying a slightly cheaper low-grade product not only can be unsafe due to poor manufacturing quality, but also can result in higher energy cost. Always do your research and check the energy efficiency of your electrical products.

*Set your heater or Air Conditioner on a timer so it turns off when you plan on not being home and turns on shortly before you plan on arriving back.

*Unplug electronics, battery chargers and other devices when not using them.

*Turn off your computer when not using them.

*During those summer days when it’s not too hot, turn off the A/C and use a fan or open the window for fresh air.

*Find and seal the leaks and cracks in walls and ceilings and around windows and doors.

*When getting a new vehicle, don’t bring it to the junkyard. One way to be more efficient is to sell it to a cash for cars company (like this popular “we buy cars” site). You can get cash back for it and someone in need of a car will reuse it, instead of it being junked and wasted.

*When purchasing that new vehicle, look into the more gas-efficient ones. SUV manufacturers are even coming out with hybrids and gas savers.

Do your part and help save yourself money and help save the environment.
